Without a Country
I got into a heated debate yesterday with a co-worker in regards to the War in Iraq. But before I delve into my stance on it, you should know I hold very little regard for those who bilaterally support President Bush and the Iraq war, which ironically is in itself unilateral. The attitude that usually follows I hold even less regard for. It is the attitude of “better them than us”. Now, to me that is NOT expectable. First and foremost, because there are innocent people dying needlessly and also because of what hasn’t been proven (and never will be) with regards to this war. I need not go into specifics because you know with what I am referring to. I’m taken aback with the remarks made by Bush supporters. Their complete disregard for human life and the truth, the very clear as day truth just exhaust me. The ends have not once been just during this war. You can’t argue against fact. And the sheer contempt I’ve received makes me feel like I’m without a country to love, and to call home. If you want to know what it’s like to defend a country you have to avoid war when ever possible. And if you would have bothered to do the research we would have told our president to go after the real reason 9/11 happened. I’ll bet you never knew that two months after 9/11 The White House web page released a list of countries that held Al-Queda terrorist cells. Guess which country did NOT make the list. You don’t have to think hard do you? If you want to defend and save lives, invest in the truth and start asking the right questions and start demanding the right answers.
I believe human rights falls under a very simple category that spawns wonder, and speaks volumes. And that is, “you are you’re brothers keeper” and you as an American have a duty to seek and demand the truth. It shames and embarrasses me how little people know about this war. How blinded we’ve become when I hear someone seriously say that they believe the hijackers on 9/11 were Iraqi. There needs to be some kind of accountability for this for lack of better words, irresponsible dooping of the American people.
Ed Shultz said it best. “We have to educate the people.” And I couldn’t agree more. The jokes have stopped and seriousness has finally set in.
Dream of something better for me tonight because God knows I’ll be up.
